"ආ..නේ... මේ මමනෙ!!" / "O...h... it's me!"

පරණ යාළුවො ගැන මතක් කරගෙන යනකොට අපිත් එක්ක එකට වැඩ කරපු 'සමරෙට' වෙච්ච වැඩක් මතක් වුණා. මේ සිදුවීමට සම්බන්ධ ආයතනයේ නම නොකියා ඉන්න එක වඩා හොඳයි කියලා හිතෙනවා.

දවසක් සමරෙ තවත් යාළුවෙක් එක්ක ඔෆිස් එකේ කැන්ටිමට ගියා තේ එකක් බොන්න. කෑම කාලා ඉවර වෙලා අත පිහදාන්න අතට ගත්ත කඩදාසිය දිහාවට සමරෙගෙ ඇහැ ගියේ ඉබේටම වගේ. කඩදාසියෙ තිබුණෙ උප්පැන්න සහතිකයක ඡායා පිටපතක් බව දැක්කම කොහොමටත් කුතුහලය වැඩි සමරෙගෙ කුතුහලය තවත් වැඩි වුණා.

"ආ උප්පැන්නයක්නෙ" කියලා සමරෙ හොඳට බැලුවා.

උප්පැන්නයේ දිස්ත්‍රික්කයට 'මාතර' කියලා තියනවා දැක්කම සමරෙට පුදුම සතුටක් ඇති වුණා වගේම කුතුහලයත් තව වැඩි වුණා.
"ආනේ මේ අපේ පැත්තෙනෙ!" කියලා සමරෙ තවත් විස්තර බැලුවා.

එහෙම බලාගෙන යනකොට සමරෙ තවත් පුදුමයට පත් කරමින් කොට්ඨාසය හැටියට 'තිහගොඩ' කියල තියනවා.

"ආනේ මේ අපේ ගමේමනෙ" කියලා සමරෙ තවත් හයියෙන් යාළුවටත් ඇහෙන්න කියලා උප්පැන්නයේ තවත් පහළට දෑස් යොමු කළා.

මෙන්න බොලේ ඊට පහළින් සමරෙගෙම නම තියනවා!

"ආ..නේ... මේ මමනෙ!!"

කියලා ඒ පාර සමරෙ කිව්වෙ කලින් දෙවතාවටම වඩා හයියෙන්.


හොයලා බලනකොට තමයි දැන ගත්තෙ සමරෙ මුලින්ම ආයතනයට රැකියාවට ඉල්ලුම් කරනකොට එවපු උප්පැන්න සහතිකයේ ඡායා පිටපත කුමන හෝ ක්‍රමයකින් කැන්ටිමේ අත පිහදාන කඩදාසි බවට පත් වෙලා කියලා.

මේ සිද්ධිය එතකින් අමතක කරලා දාන්න හෝ තමන් විතරක් රස විඳලා සතුටු වෙන්න තරම් සමරෙ ආත්මාර්ථකාමී වුණේ නෑ. සමරෙ එදා දවස පුරාම ඔෆිස් එකේ හැමෝටම ඔය කතාව ඔය පිළිවෙලටම කියමින් හැමෝගෙම ලේ පිරිසිදු කළා විතරක් නෙවෙයි අවුරුදු ගාණක් ගත වෙලත් අද පවා ඉල කැඩෙන්න හිනාවෙන්න පුළුවන්  මතකයක් අපට ඉතුරු කළා.

Memories of old friends brought back this incident happened to a colleague called “Samare”.  It is better not to reveal the name of the organization where this happened.

One day Samare went to the office canteen with a friend to have a cup of tea. His eye was instantly caught by the piece of paper he took to wipe his fingers after eating. When he saw that the paper was a photo copy of a Birth Certificate his naturally built curiosity heightened.

“Oh, it’s a birth certificate” saying so Samare started taking a better look at it.

When he saw that the District mentioned in the birth certificate is ‘Matara’ Samare was head over heels and his curiosity grew more.

“Oh this is our area!” he said looking for more information.

Running his eye through the document, Samare then saw that the Division mentioned is ‘Thihagoda’.

“Oh! It’s our village” Samare said in a louder voice calling for his friend’s attention while reading further.

Then he saw that below that appeared his own name!

“O…h.. it’s me!!”

This time Samare was much louder than the previous times.

He later learned that the photocopy of his Birth Certificate sent to the organization along with his job application has somehow found its way to the office canteen.

Samare was not selfish to forget this story or to enjoy it by himself. During the rest of that day he went on narrating the story to all our colleagues in the particular order it happened to him. By doing that not only he made our day but left us with a funny memory which we can have a hearty laugh about even after so many years.
